SUZY VAUGHAN

Suzy Vaughan was born in San Antonio, Texas and, determined to be an actress, got out of high school in 3 years cum laude and graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a B.A. in Theatre in 3 years, also cum laude. She then attended Stanford University, spending a year doing graduate work in theatre. Once out of grad school, she discovered that acting was not necessarily the most marketable skill, so she spent several years as a technical writer at various aerospace corporations in Northern California. During that time she also received an M.A. in English Literature from San Jose State University. Eventually, she relocated to Los Angeles, where she worked as an actress, a screenwriter and a secretary, finally ending up at Entertainment Tonight, where she was introduced to rights clearance. She then freelanced for 5 years. In 1988, when she decided to go to law school, she took freelance clearance into her home and discovered that "if you build it, they will come." While she attended Loyola Law School at night, she also supported her two children through their undergraduate years at the University of Southern California. She continues to run the clearance company as well as her solo law practice.  In her spare time, she has appeared in productions at the Attic Theatre, the Jewel Box Theatre, and the Knightsbridge Theatre. She is a produced playwright and a screenwriter.   Oh, yes, and she also raises teacup shihtzus (www.teacupshihtzu.com).
